MUSIC TEMPO AND HEART BEAT

Do you know that the music tempo and the heartbeat had relations? Yes, the music tempo and heartbeat have relationship. The fast the music tempo, then so does our heart beat. The slow the music tempo,so does our heart beat.

How could that happen?
The mechanism of the decline in the heartbeat to the song with the slow time was as follows. Music was delivered through the listening organ with the existence of the bunch of listening, towards the brain and with the existence of the incentive to the centre of the inhibition then the brain will be stimulated to produce the alpha wave. The alpha wave will stimulate releasing our endogen hormones, which is called endorphine and serotonin.

Endorphine, that was one of the peptides opioid endogen, worked by hindering the release of the neurotransmitter prasinaptik. Compounds opiat endogen, including beta endorphine, was made in pituitari and the cortex adrenal. Opioid endogen will cause the effect if it is interacting with its receptor. Opioid endogen had several receptors, including receptor mu, kappa, sigma, the delta and epsilon. The main receptor to SSP for beta endorphine are mu, kappa and the delta.

When beta endorphine connected with mu receptor and the delta,it will inhibit the release of dopamin and asetilkolin. Dopamin that was the precursor norepinefrin on the brain worked directly to the receptor dopaminergik and adrenergik that afterwards will release norepinefrin endogen. In the level of that was high, dopamin will increase miocardium activity through activation β1 receptor and release norepinefrin endogen so that it can stimulating our sympathetic nerve.

With the existence of the inhibition dopamin by beta endorphine then the decline in the symphatetic tonus. Whereas asetilkolin that was the transmitter in various sinaps and the nerves suffix simpatis when being hindered will cause the symphatetic tonus descended too. The decline in the symphatetic tonus will result in negative cronotopic and negative inotropic to the heart that caused the decline in the heartrate and stroke volume. Further, cardiac output will be descended and finally the decline in blood pressure happened. Whereas serotonin endogen was the biphasic hormone, it means that this hormone could cause vasoconstriction and when in the level of that was high will cause vasodilatation. In this case, the serotonin endogen release will increase so that it cause the symphatetic tonus descended and through the vasomotor centre will cause the vasomotor tonus to descend. So that vasodilatation happen and cause total peripheral resistance (TPR) descended and was followed by the decline in blood pressure.

The mechanism of the increase in the heart rate to the song with the fast time was as follows. Fast music tempo will stimulate the brain to produce beta wave. Beta wave will stimulate the issuing of adrenalin when thinking logical, felt stress or the pressure. When listening to music with the fast tempo, the gland adrenal produced adrenalin also as in the case of in the stress situation. This reason will caused the symphatetic stimulation then increased the heart rate and blood pressure.

Not only towards the heart rate, music tempo also influence the rhythm of breathing and our blood pressure with the similar mechanism. Therefore faster music tempo could be used to increase vigilance someone, for example to be used when we are working or fitness. Whereas slower music tempo could be used as therapy to reduce the heart rate and make our mind to be calm.
